{Spring Break} Day 5 ~ Swimming Pool Austin

We felt so lucky to have 4 swimming pools and 2 hot tubs at the condo. However, the pools weren't heated and the water was about 70 degrees. Let me tell you...we spent A LOT of time in the hot tub, luckily they were big and deep! The kids loved playing in them! Today, Scott had to work in Austin, so we had a pool day! It wasn't as long of a pool day as I had planned because I had food poisoning. I promised the kids we would do the pool all day! I felt a little better (and I say a teeny bit better as in not throwing up for 30 minutes) to take them to the pool (I mean hot tub) for 1 1/2 hours of play! It was a rough day for me, but a fun one for the kiddos!

{Spring Break} Day 4 ~ Aquarium in Austin

We had planned on spending e.v.e.r.y minute in downtown Austin doing all kinds of outside-sy things today. We had restaurants planned with outdoor seating, these grand parks to take the kids to and just walking around (aka shopping). Things changed quickly when we woke up to fog and rain. The aquarium was a good choice! The pictures looked great on the website, so we headed out! We've seen some amazing aquariums...this one though...hahaha was in a STRIP MALL! We stayed positive, maybe we were too quick to judge. It wasn't big. It wasn't spectacular. It wasn't a whole day of ooh-ing and ahh-ing over animal water life. However, almost all the animals you could hand feed and touch! The sting rays, the fish, birds and the SHARKS! The kids were too scared to feed the sharks, so Scott did it. Bexley wouldn't even take a picture in front of it, she was too scared. Lesson learned...never, ever, judge...we ended up having a lot of fun today!

1st stop...the iguana. So fun that the kiddos could touch almost every animal in the aquarium!

Next stop...touch the Sting Rays, their favorite!

Camden feeding the Sting Rays!

Now, this one just makes me laugh...feeding Sting Rays one minute, super scared of the birds the next. Scott and I had to take pics by the birds so they would know not to be afraid!

The sweet bird attendant kindly took this pic. Love Bex's face in this one and how Camden is clinging to Scott's leg. I was all like, "C'mon kids, don't be scared!" Then a bird flew into my hair! I let out a tiny scream and said, "I'm done!" Camden sweetly replied back, "I thought you said not to be scared...they are just birds!"
Bravely trying to feed the sharks, whenever they got close he just dropped the food in the tank!

Cuteness in the fish tank tunnel!

{Spring Break} Day 3 ~ San Antonio

We ventured out today to the historic city of San Antonio. 1st stop on the list was some good Tex-Mex. We found a little place called El Mercado (the market) where they have tons of authentic Mexican shops and restaurants. We did a little shopping and got a bite to eat! Next stop, The Alamo. a little history for everyone! This was amazing to see and probably the favorite for everyone...well except for Bexley, she wanted to do a little more shopping (that's my girl)! Final stop was the Riverwalk. This was so fun to see and the energy there was very vibrant! We stopped to have dessert there and walked around. On the way home we stopped in downtown Austin for some bbq at Lambert's! I would highly suggest this if you are ever in Austin ~ ranked Top 5 for bbq in Austin. We didn't think the kids would like it too much, but Bexley and Camden gobbled up the brisket & ribs! We had to order more so Scott and I would actually get to eat something after we finished our salads! You know it's good when Bexley is eating meat!

{Spring Break} Day 2 ~ Boating In Austin

We are staying at The Hollows of Lake Travis in the hills of Austin (just outside the city). Our villa overlooks the beautiful Lake Travis where you can do just about any water sports you can think of. It was a really nice, warm day so we decided to rent a boat for a few hours and tour the lake. We took our lunch out there after our cave tour! After boating around the lake, the kids were itching to go swimming. They were in for about 5 min and when they got out we asked Camden how the water was. He said, "I think I have Hypothermia!" We had a blast and it's hard to choose which activity today was a favorite!

1st Mate Camden and Captain Scott giving directions!

Ok people, I'm not kidding, these are what the houses look like on the lake. I didn't just take pics of the big ones...they are ALL like this!

Here are our munchkins after jumping in the fridged lake waters!

{Spring Break} Day 2 ~ Cave Tour In Austin

Just outside of Austin you can go exploring in a 3/4 mile long guided tour of a cave. We all have never been in a cave and thought it would be fun for us to do together. Bexley brought her flashlight and was disappointed when we told her we didn't choose the In-The-Dark-Tour (all blacked out, but they give you a flashlight). We chose the tour that had pathways and was lit up! (I was the only chicken who didn't want the all dark tour). It was amazing to hear the history behind the cave and learn all about the formations!

Here we go! This cave goes 70ft under the ground. Temps ranging from 72 to 90 degrees!
Bexley couldn't wait to use her flashlight that she brought from home!

Do you see the rainbow colored lights? They also give a crawling tour. They give you a flashlight and a special suit to wear. You really get to go behind the scenes of a cave ~ ummm....no thank you! One family member really wanted to do this! Ahem...Camden.
This.picture.doesn't.even.do.this.room.justice! This is the last stop on the tour ~ the pool room. The water you see is 5ft deep, but only looks about a foot. The reason ~ the water is SO clear that the formations reflect off of the water making it appear to be super shallow! It was by far a favorite. It's huge although I couldn't capture that! Whew...cave pics are hard ones to take!

{Spring Break} Day 1 ~ Austin

We got into Austin around midnight ~ the kiddos were so tired, along with Scott and myself! Oh, we got about 4 hours of sleep before Camden and Bexley woke up ready to start their day! Being that it was Easter, not a lot was open. However, we found a place to have breakfast and started our vacation off right with some breakfast tacos! We hung around and relaxed on Easter at the villa, checked out the Beach Club and played some horseshoes. Scott was chopping at the bit to get some Texas BBQ, so we ventured to Austin and had Day 1 of Scott's BBQ Quest! Later that night, we went back to the Beach Club for some swimming, a fire, and smores. It was a great way to end our 1st day!

{Happy Easter} From Austin, Texas

Happy Easter from Austin, TX! For Spring Break we are spending our vacation in Austin! The Easter Bunny came to our house the day before Easter (the day we left for TX). We were surprised today when we went to the pool of the villa we are renting and they had Easter baskets for all of the kids! What a sweet thing for them to do! Hope everyone is having as great of a this Easter Sunday as we are!

{Teacher Gift} Easter

We love our teachers and always like to do things extra for them! Here was our Easter gift to our teachers this year! Who doesn't like a gift card for some frozen yogurt?!?

{Happy St. Patrick's Day} 2016

May your blessings outnumber
The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go!
